The Makerspace studio @ city high school is a multidisciplinary creative space designed to provide students a wide array or mediums to explore creative output. There are two primary spaces; the workshop and tech lab. No prior experience is necessary to join. The studio follows a curriculum that is designed to teach necessary skills, and push creative thought.
The Makerspace curriculum is centered around earning “skill badges.” Various disciplines and their related projects are sorted and categorized into the following badges, encompassing all of the current offerings of the makerspace. Each of these badges has some training activities, and a list of projects that are required to earn the badge. This is designed to teach proficiency in each of these skillsets. Once all training and projects are completed, the student is awarded the badge for that skill. Badges, notes, etc are all kept in a Zine (booklet) that is made by the students at the beginning of the year. Students are required to complete a minimum of one badge per semester to earn credit.
